Hmm
I got this from Glenn this being the Gender Genie. It can supposedly determine your gender from what you write.... riiiiight.
I typed in:
Last night as I cruised the streets, I was pulled over by a CHP officer. *not true.*
*drumroll* The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: Male!
So I tried it again: Sometimes when I'm alone I like to dream about mashed potatoes.
The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: Female!

Another Question
Gustiso*****: do you really want to see him crawl?
Gustiso*****: HEY!
MsBHaven76: always
Gustiso*****: we should take a poll......and ask if crawling is considered chivalrous...
Gustiso*****: YA!
MsBHaven76: we can do an informal poll... or a real life poll where people vote
Gustiso*****: yah! it'll be like a real vote where it won't matter what people vote cuz I'll have the final say and be right anyway!
Gustiso*****: good idea
MsBHaven76: hahaha
and on that note jessica wants to know if a man crawls at a woman's request is that chilvarous?

My Back
Jessica's comment on... my... erm... lack of wanting a chilvarous man.
Perhaps we should ship you off and get you together with an Englishman. Maybe Mike has a friend you could see. Maybe you'll see what you are missing out on. MAYBE you'll come back expecting more. (or maybe you'll stay because you cannot live without that respect!) Remind me to keep my eye open for internet travel specials.

Kissing Jessica Stein
I just watched "Kissing Jessica Stein" cool movie... but the best part is the soundtrack. Blossom Dearie, Diana Krall, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holliday!! On one CD!!
update: apparently some people are bitter that not all the songs from the movie aren't on the soundtrack... in case you're interested as well... imdb.com has a complete list of all the songs used in the movie.

The Very First Time
Like a virgin.... writhing on stage? the kiss was so the old madonna... and missy was great!
I LOVE CHRIS ROCK!
Hmm Coldplay doesn't have any DVDs on Amazon.com and they don't have any of their own listed on Amazon.co.uk but they are part of a compilation DVD The Brit Awards 2001 - DVD of the Year. Thank gawd for non-region encoded DVD players.
update: for the record the guy with the flower/heart shaped glasses sitting next to snoop dogg is a real life pimp. he's on a documentary somewhere... i'll find it. and the 5 guys from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" were in the audience. i love ms. ambrose, her style, everything... but why did missy bring her on stage?
update: what was up with beyonce's hair? i swear she's channeling in the spirits of singers past - some tina turner-like backup singer.
and for those non-california residents... ben stiller mentioned cruz bustamante. cruz bustamante lives in my neck of the woods and he's currently the lieutenant governor of the state. he's running for governor. *damn recall* i don't think he's going to get it... not when everyone finds out that his driver sits in front of his house with the car running, while reading the newspaper. *i'm sure he has an environment thing somewhere in his schtick*
the oddest pairing since busta rhymes & martha stewart? lil john, hilary duff, and jason biggs.
anyone notice on chris martin's piano the "make trade fair" statement? i'll have you know starbucks is a fair trade company.
madonna's costume jacket - BOO-YOOT-T-FULL! i want one.
mary, did you see monique? i don't think jeri was there.

Personal Business Bitching
I have my own bitch-ass manager here.... she almost found my fist in her mouth earlier today. :angry She's very rude, and has the audacity to tell certain employees they can't speak their native language, while others can. WTF!? That's called discrimination you stupid twat!
The state of California is totally for having recall elections but not discrimination. Especially not in the work place. Last time I bitched about a manager to another franchise owner right after I quit at a certain store, the owner of that store showed up later that week gave everyone their paychecks, and shut the store down. *I'm sorry about that Reema* That store was closed for a whole year and half until someone else bought it. I'm not the bitch to be fucked with.</personal business bitching>
I keep reminding myself that it's only temporary `cause I got things to do... things that take money... things that are going to get done within the next year... LaHonda, Team D, Baby B, the trip... the list goes on. It's only temporary Sheila.
Damn I missed Maroon 5 on the Late Show.

Call of the Wild

as we spied the kitty (1) in his natural habitat, we realized he had seen us (2) (3). upon closer inspection (4)(6)(7) he was most comfortable with letting us into his space. he rolled around and even grew bored (5) with our presence. as we were leaving the wild kitty's home he spied prey (8) on the opposite side of the pool, but he once again grew bored and came out of his home/hiding place (9). The same wild kitty on his nightly hunt (10).

Is chivalry dead?
"if a guy ever opened a door up for me, i'd knock his head off."
I've been wondering about this quote....and wanted some other opinions. Why would any woman be so opposed to this gesture? Why would she respond with violence? All that I can think of is that Mr. Right hasn't come along to show her the good in this. I guess Mr. Ok hasn't been by either......
You can open my doors, pump my gas, loan me your jacket when the weather is bad, carry my shopping bags and any other chilvarous gesture you can think of and I'll walk away impressed. My sistas...these men are a dying breed.

SWEET...!
First my YESSICA is back. YESSICA has come back from the wilds of Illinois to California. Where the shoes, happy cows, and governor candidates are in abundance. :biggrin Baby B is back as well!!
Second... Miss Alicia made me this. It's so girly...! Coot!
Okay.. I just realized how short Spike Lee is. My grandmother is taller than him, and she's not standing up straight. My grandfather is way taller than him, he's slightly bent too... my dad is taller than him. Heh... you won't find Sgt. Brown in the picture cause he's taking the picture and he's pissed cause of all the rap music. Which makes me laugh everytime I think about it.

I want to add to that . When I worked Roundtable Pizza oh so long ago... I would have to hear these friggin cows talk about how they'd wanted to lose weight while at the same time they're putting half a gallon of friggin ranch dressing on their very healthy salad.
AND I do believe Britney Spears during a tour prolly dances maybe 10 to 15 hours a day maybe... so with all the dancing and working out she's earned her body. She's an entertainer so she has that kind of time.

Yesterday Mari was supposed to shoot some 49er football players, I think Jeff Garcia was one of them, but they cancelled due to today's game. Now my father and a neighbor went to today's game. Elliott normally goes with my Dad to 49er games... but today he had to work. *deep down I know my Dad was rooting for his hometown team the New Orleans Saints*

No Punk Is He
Woohoo! I just saw Sam Jackson on yesterday's "106&Park" and he says that he told George Lucas to not let his character go out like a punk. He also went on to say that he just completed filming his big *or only* fight scene where I think he dies with all the other Jedi. Arrgh how many days is that....? According to Tracy's counter on her Darth Maul site 641 days! tick tock, tick tock.

Bored...
We won't be going again. Where? To the highland games. OMG the fun! There were brawny men in kilts, dancing, live music, Diana Gabaldon & other authors were there. Mari being the brazen girl she is took a picture with a sweaty contender from the games. I need to find those pictures...
To those people searching for the Harry Potter POA (Prisoner of Azkaban) Trailer - I don't know. Though my bets are running on it being run during the "Cat in the Hat" previews in Novmeber. Just a guess.
But if you want to see something really funny check out Viking Kittens.

A Memory to Share
Okay they just covered the "Joy of Sex" book on VH1's "I Love the 70s"... and one of the guys just asked to borrow the book. That in turn reminded me of a guy that worked at Borders as a temp. Note: When you were an employee of Borders Books & Music then you could check books out, just like a library. I don't know if it's still like that now. Anyway this guy, weird guy too, asked to check out "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Amazing Sex." Everyone there was like "Dude, don't bring it back used we have to shelve that."
Schoolhouse Rock!! I mostly remember SR from the 80s. Did you know that the great jazz singer Blossom Dearie did some of the songs for Schoolhouse Rock? Now I have to break out my SR lunchbox and cds... "I'm a just a bill...."
"The Zoom" kids thing is a little too old for me... OWL TV and Vegetable Soup are more my speed.
Off to go ask my dad if he has leisure suits hidden in his closets.

Question...
...and you have to be honest... how many times when describing a person do you use their race/ethnic makeup? "This black girl...." "This white guy...." "This Asian chick...." "An Indian guy..." I honestly don't think I do it... when I worked at Borders I used to call the mothers that came into the store for storytime the Gap mommies. *Some of the guys used to call them milfs... * I don't think you can infer from that if they were white, black, asian, or hispanic. It was a pretty mixed group anyway... but they all acted the same. Absolutely obnoxious. *not all of them but enough* I wonder if other people do that... like if they were refering to me in a conversation do they say, "That black girl...." or is it "You know Sheila? The crazy girl that almost kicked your ass?"
I want the guy from Verizon Wireless' commercials residual checks. Though I'd take Shelby's in heartbeat.

Another Quiz
Which Celtic Goddess Are You? going on a limb here before I take it... Morrigan. I'm so psychic at times...
The Morrigu (or Morrigan) was a Celtic War Goddess who delighted in setting men at war. She fought in battles herself, and at times hovered like a crow over the warring men. She was represented as fully armed, carrying two spears in her hand, and wherever there was war, she was there. Her battle cry is said to be louder than that of a thousand men. You are spiteful, cruel, and dark. But those who befiend you are on your good side for life.
Speaking of knocking a man off his feet and onto his ass.... look at what I found earleir today when cleaning out my closet. I think this fall I might take up kickboxing again or karate.... it's been so long. I could always do something new like fencing... Nothing I like better than knowing I can knock a man out if he opens my door.

2 Golden Menus
Product placement is distracting. The great ones that stick with you don't have it. Like "Leon - The Professional" doesn't have, and if it does I didn't notice. "The Fifth Element" did have it... the futuristic McDonald's has it. I know "Charlie's Angels 2" had it... with the best iced tea on the planet... Coke's Nestea and with Sony. Alex & Dylan are helping Natalie move in with Pete... and Alex is holding a TV that has SONY really big on the back, you can't miss that one. In "2 Fast 2 Furious" you can't miss the Sobe, Pepsi... and Snap-On Tools.
I think the first "Tomb Raider" had it... someone correct me if I'm wrong. I know that the "Cradle of Life" has product placement - I haven't even seen the movie yet. Jeep Wrangler AND Panasonic!
Photographer Mari says that if you think you want the SV-AV30 camera from Panasonic... don't get it. shitty, shitty camera. You can't zoom when making your movies... plus you need a decent memory card to make a movie. Ack.... just look at those specs.
You can make videos, play mp3s, camera.... *i have the Kodak MC3 - you can make movies, play mp3s, & take still phots - NO ZOOM - it's almost worthless, almost!* UGH! For the price tag.. you can get yourself a decent digital camcorder and digital camera.

THANKS TO MIKE FOR SENDING ME "MENTAL FLOSS." That magazine is so friggin funny!! *notice the lack of swearing, i've been trying really hard*

Randomness 3
My father and I were talking... and sometimes when joking around he does the sign of the cross... my family is Catholic. *Actually they're part-time, they only go to mass and such at Christmas Eve & at Easter* People get weirded out that my father knows Latin. Not very many black folks out this way are Catholic let alone know Latin. Pretty funny if you ask me....
I know Latin too... a lot of good it's done me. What a waste... more useless shit I know. What I think is really funny is that I thought I would do something with said knowledge after highschool so I bought a Latin phrase book... I never opened or used it... not even to reference. Useless, pointless...!!
FYI2: Just because someone has Momo car accessories in their car - do not ask them what's under the hood. I will key your eyes out. None of your DAMN business and I'm not going to race you idiot. My motto: FAST GIRLS RIDE HARD.... in designated areas you jackass. :angry

More Randomness

So yesterday after running some errands, I come home and on the porch is a package from Mike!! Woohoo!! He sent me back my copy of "Gormenghast" and he sent some comic previews AND he sent me more copies of:
Batgirl: Year One, Batgirl, Batman, Mystique, Birds of Prey, and Fallen Angel. Some nice loot!! Batgirl: Year One was okay.... I read the other Batgirls and I take it that Cassandra is the same Cassandra from Greg Rucka's "No Mans Land" series and book? I prefer the "Birds of Prey" tv show take on that whole situation.
That other picture is of a Iced Venti Tuxedo Mocha & a liter of Mtn Dew. My first bits of caffiene in over a week. They were calling my name... saying Sheila, Sheila! Buy us!! Drink us!! I couldn't very well tell them no.
FYI: Mervyn Peake the man that wrote the "Gormenghast" novels was friends with J.R.R. Tolkien... and Christopher Lee "Saruman The White" plays Flay. Yah yah and big lipped boy Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is in it, too. He plays Steerpike.

R I A A - How?
:sunny
Anyway what's been bothering me is the suing of people. Actually I guess it's more the mystery of the manner of how they are going about it. Like are they going to major ISPs like MSN, AOL, Comcast, Verizon and getting IP addresses and tracking an IP's activities.... sites visited and such. Are they only targeting companies that offer broadband service... DSL, cable, T1 lines...? Or they going through the actual services like Limewire, Morpheus and getting people's IP addresses from there and then going to the ISP company and getting the customer's info?
Kazaa is still in a legal battle with the RIAA ... but Kazaa's privacy statement still protects its users until otherwise - as in not divulging customers IP addresses.
Plus the RIAA made a statement how they are going after people with a substantial amount of files. What's a substantial amount? 1600? 16000? 160000?
Are they sharing any information they collect on these people with other private parties?
Still in the end it's illegal for the RIAA to act as a police entity... and the fact that they were granted subpoena power for civil suits - copyright infringement, loss of revenue - is so friggin illegal and unconstitutional is ridiculous.
So many questions... and no answers.
From Sean who just told me about the Electronic Frontier Foundation page.

Pssh! Southern rap has its own genre in rap... it just does. I would not put Cash Money or Nelly in the same category as Dr Dre or Ice Cube. Uh! That doesn't even sound right.
Ludacris is in seperate category. I like Trina... and DPT... some of things that came out of Florida; 2 Live Crew, 69 Boyz, 95 South were pretty enteratining.
OUTKAST! GOODIE MOBB! KILLER MIKE!!

EYE CAN C!
I love my eye doctor... maybe he loves me, too. My glasses have been broken for awhile.. for over a month and my left contact had a rip in it. If you're a blind person you know what this means... I'm not supposed to drive without them. That's how bad my eyes are *naughty eyes*.... my eye doctor once said that I should either marry a rich man or get a good paying job for eye surgery. *which i'll be having anyway* Anyway...my eye doctor GAVE me some new lenses today. Yes, I said gave... but regular ol lenses. I hate wearing glasses in public... but I do miss my old Guess frames from oh so long ago. JESSICA - KENNETH COLE FRAMES ARE TOO SMALL FOR MY BIG HEAD.

AND I just found a Farscape webring over on ringsurf... I miss Farscape. I miss Chiana... and Aeryn & John's shippy moments. I even miss Rygel.
Speaking of Ringsurf and rings... I totally agree with Tracy on Yahoo! & Webring's stupidity oh so long ago. Yahoo! does have nice looking offices for its employees but lord the damage they have done to webring. It's a shell of what they once were. Ringsurf is what Webring used to be.
With all these photos I've been posting I need to have a photoblog... and that shitey one that you have to pay to upload more than one picture a day. No thank you.

Cheetah Girls
I knew Disney Channel wasn't doing anything new! I knew it! Actually they're doing what everyone else doing... turning to books into tv shows, movies... I remember seeing those books on the shelves during my stay at Borders Books & Music Prison. They didn't sell very well.

Even Artichokes Have Hearts
The one movie I saw last year and wished I had seen more than once - Amélie. The cutest lil movie... worth the 7 or 8 bucks I paid, too. That was the best foreign movie I saw last year... it was too late to go see "Brotherhood of the Wolf." BTW the actual region 1 DVD release of BOTW sucks. A friend saw it in the theatre with English subtitles. What the hell is wrong with the DVD... they dubbed it over. That has to be the most distracting thing ever... anyway Mark Dacascos found work after "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven." woowoo!!
Oi!! A Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day?!? OH YAH!! Sean Patrick Flanery & Norman Reedus were both on "Charmed" this past season. It took me awhile to realize that Norman Reedus is that guy in "Blade 2".

Smart Little Cat...
Our neighbor came over to tell us a story about her dog and our cat. Cats are really smarter then we think. My cat is smarter than yours, I didn't know that for sure until just recently. Spalding has just recently been allowed to go outside. My neighbors put their dog in the backyard at night on a chain. Spalding comes and goes as he sees fit. I don't know where he is at night. I have been known on occasion to be frustrated with the constant barking of their dog. Seems Spalding has been contributing to the delinquency of this dog. My neighbor went out to see what all the fuss was about and found them like this. Spalding sitting just a foot away from the end of the chain and watching the dog come at him. And then if that isn't enough, he doesn't even flinch. Just sits there like a statue watching the dog choke himself. She had to chase him off to get the dog from killing himself trying to get the unattainable. I know Spalding is laughing inside (and truth be told I was laughing when I heard). The more I tell the story the more I realize this little guy is much smarter than we think. Much smarter.

Arrrrr....
Taken from Alicia's blog What's Your Pirate Name?..... well Mine is *drumroll* Iron Ethel Bonney - A pirate's life isn't easy; it takes a tough person. That's okay with you, though, since you are that person. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr! She must be bad-ass... if she was a woman pirate. Ethel Bonney isn't in my book "Booty: Girl Pirates of the High Seas". So it looks I'll have to look her up...
BTW "Booty" is the bestest book that's come out in the last 2 years on girl pirates. Wait, it's the only book. Unfortunately Sara Lorimer doesn't plan on tackling anymore females in history - she says she's raising her own little pirate. :smile

Harry Potter Post
:talker That's right I'm talking about Harry here cause I'm too lazy to login under greymatter for my Harry Potter blog... so shoosh!
Anyway... I've been re-reading the Chamber of Secrets... and I mentioned it before how Rowling will mention people once and never again do we hear about them until later. Susan Bones is mentioned rather quickly during the Sorting Ceremony in SS and there she is again in OOTP. Arabella Figg was mentioned in SS and at the end of GOF by Dumbledore... well there she is in OOTP. In COS Mundungus Fletcher is spoken of... and there he is OOTP.
Gilderoy Lockhart mentions Gladys Gudgeon *a fan* in COS and again in Order of the Phoenix. Despite his condition this woman still writes to him. I have a feeling we're gonna end up meeting her in the one of the next two books. Let's see... when Harry goes to The Burrow he hears on the radio something about the "Witching Hour" by the singing sorceress Celestina Warbeck. Perhaps a future celebrity going to Hogwarts... to teach singing? Let's see a Miranda Goshawk the author of the Standard Book of Spells... she could be a guest Professor. She could teach the American Muggle equivalent to an AP class that Hermione will take. Veronica Smethley's is another person mentioned...
Do you see where this going?
Oh yah Percy was reading "Prefects Who Gained Power." I swear that boy is up to no good. He'll be the ruin of himself.
Damn Groove Armada's "Edge Hill" is putting me to sleep .... nighty, night!

All He Needs
When watching my 3 year old cousin Jordan a few weeks ago.... I realized it doesn't take much to make him happy... just give him his pizza on his Spiderman plate while he drinks juice from his Spiderman cup... and then he can play his Spiderman games on on both of his Gameboys. Then once he's done... he can sit in his Spongbob chair and watch his Spongbob DVD.

I gotta say that the way he plays Gameboy is the way I must've played Space Invaders when I was 5.

Potty Tunes
:sunny
Now that Mari has moved back to the Bay Area & Elliott has his own place... there aren't anymore tunes coming from the bathroom we shared. Just the ones I play. Tunes in the bathroom? Yup. Since highschool we have had a radio in our bathroom... so when in the shower one isn't... bored? I dunno us three just liked having tunes.
When Mari was in the shower there would be Jon B, Jagged Edge, & Mariah Carey coming from under the door... when Elliott was in there... there'd be Wu-Tang, Warrior, Bjork... then there was me... I'd have Elastica, Catherine Wheel, Mya, Master P & Bjork as well... but now there's just me. Lately when in the shower you can hear Coldplay's "Parachutes" or the local NPR station.
The bathroom stereo is currently my Badtz Maru stereo... from my old desk at Borders.

So what are your potty tunes?

Beckhams Everywhere
:rain
It's raining in Sacramento in July. It looks like November outside.
Hmm so "Bend It Like Beckham" has now been widely released... I think I'll go see it. Since Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in it maybe I can talk April into going to see it with me. Woo! It's at the good theatre, too!
After watching the David Beckham interview on HBO's Real Sports... they made him seem desperate to be famous here in the US. I really don't think soccer aka football will ever be THAT big here. The only time people really care... is during World Cup time.
Reminisce with me.... it was 2001...

Marrrry Jaaaane!
Whew I just moved a queen sized boxspring down 2 flights of stairs... the house of my youth is not a house... it's a regular workout.
Mary Jane's story! Finally! Marvel's finally getting hip to the game.
The title of entry comes from the Mary Jane Girls... who sang backup for Rick James most notably on "Mary Jane".
Speaking of music what happened to Matt "MUSIC KNOW-ALL" Pinfield's show 120 Minutes?
What happened to Matt Pinfield? :sad I miss that show... and Alternative Nation. What ever happened to AMP? I remember Prodigy's "Firestarter" video there for the first time. Those shows gave me my underground & emerging artists fix. Now there's.... *crickets chirping* um, nothing.
